Job Description:
The Unconventional is seeking a Open-Source Intelligence Analyst - SME to join our Global Open-Source Network. Utilizing publicly available information (PAI), non-traditional intelligence gathering and exploitation methods to provide our clients with insight to counter counterdrug (CD) and counter trans-national organized crime (CTOC). This Network leverages commercial subscriptions, social media, financial transactions, and open-sourced geospatial data to identify, disrupt, and interdict trans-national threat networks responsible for illicit drug trafficking, illicit financial flows, and the illicit trafficking of people, wildlife, natural resources, and weapons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Explore new data sources, create effective queries, and combine information from disparate sources to provide insight to counter counterdrug (CD) and counter trans-national organized crime (CTOC) insights
Provide support and counsel on technical matters
Fuse multidiscipline sources to provide accurate and timely geospatial analysis
Utilize available industry data, including market data available for purchase, outside reports, and other data provided by the requested agency, to identify threat networks
Provide analysis and assessments of commercially available and open-source data, with a specific focus on the geospatial domain, to deliver actional intelligence reports
Search out and utilize available web content and social media content, to construct new OSINT and publicly available information (PAI) tradecraft documents and workflows, and analyze the development of OSINT and PAI tradecraft, including integration across multiple intelligence disciplines and systems
Succinctly incorporate measures of quality assurance and quality control prior to release of intelligence reporting
Apply expertise in operations, intelligence, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and collections to enhance the client mission
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required Clearance:
Advanced knowledge of internet-based research, including Boolean logic, search engine and database resources, and internet sources, including social media, social networking tools, data exploitation, and commercial- and industry-based databases
Knowledge of national and service-specific OSINT policy and regulations
Ability to conduct independent analysis to support mission requirements and use enhanced search procedures, and tools to support the usage of PAI
Demonstrate critical thinking skills and tradecraft standards to deliver analytic findings in textual form, graphic annotation, or other formats as directed by the government customer, and develop and present briefings to support customer requirements
Required Education & Experience
MA or MS degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Foreign Area Studies, National Security Studies, Linguistics, Business, Library Science, or a related research field preferred
identified as recognized Industry leaders for a given area of expertise
Experience utilizing commercially available unclassified analysis toolsets including but not limited to: Windward, Anomaly Six, and Sayari
Experience with PAI analytic principals
Experience with advanced search techniques, information databases, data visualization, and related tools
Knowledge of other intelligence disciplines, including signals intelligence (SIGINT), human intelligence (HUMINT), Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)
